WHY IS HazCom TRAINING NECESSARY?
HazCom, or Hazard Communication, training is necessary to ensure the safety of workers who handle hazardous materials in the workplace. The purpose of HazCom training is to inform employees about the potential dangers of hazardous chemicals and how to work safely with them. In addition, HazCom training is required by law, under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), 29 CFR 1910.1200 (h). This standard, also known as the “Right to Know” standard, requires employers to provide employees with information about hazardous chemicals in the workplace and the necessary safety precautions.
